Aubrey Rainwater Rites set at Anson
Anson-15 Nov 1957. Aubrey L Rainwater, 47, member of prominent pioneer Jones Co. family, died at 11 pm Thursday at Anson General Hospital after an illness of about six years.

He was diagnosed as having Hodgkins Disease in Jun of 1951 and had since been frequently in hospitals. He had recieved approximately 150 blood transfusions, the blood being donated by friends in the area.

Funeral will be held Saturday at the First Baptist Church at 2:30 pm with the Rev. James Easterwood, pastor, assisted by John Franklin, minister of the Church of Christ, in San Angelo.Burial will be in Mt Hope Cemetery, directed by Lawrence Funeral Home.

Mr. Rainwater was born 20 Aug 1910 on the Boaz Ranch near Anson. He was reared in the Sinclair Community and married Myrtis Cox on 21 Nov 1921. He had farmed in the Anson area since reaching manhood. Survivors include his wife; one daughter Frances Catherine Rainwater (Mrs. Max Hagler) of Anson; four brothers; J..C. Rainwater; A. B. Rainwater; and Johnny and Maedgen, all of Anson and 3 sisters-- Mrs. Ruby Russell; Mrs. Gail Burton and Mrs. Josh Moran all of Abilene.

Death Claims Official
Walter Odell Rainwater, 54, prominent Carpenter's Gap and Sinclair Community farmer died at 4 pm Friday of a heart attack, while sitting in his pickup truck in front of a local garage. He was dead on arrival at Anson General Hospital.

He moved with his parents to Jones Co at the age of 7; was active as a farmer and had held the office of county commissioner of Pct #4. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

He was born 27 Feb 1900, dying the day before his birthday. He was married to Bessie McLaren on 5 Jun 1931.

Funeral will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday at the First Baptist Church in Anson. The Rev. J. N. Easterwood, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt Hope Cemetery here.

The body will lie in state at the family residence in the Sinclair Community until shortly before time for the service. Lawrence Funeral Home here is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rainwater is survived by his wife; a daughter Mrs. Jimmie Sue Thompson, of Anson; six brothers --G. A. Rainwater; A. L. Rainwater; J. C. "Nig" Rainwater; A. B. Rainwater; Maedgen and Johnnie Rainwater--all of Anson; and 3 sisters Mrs Ruby Russell, Anson; Mrs J. F. Moran and Mrs. M. E. Burton both of Abeline, Tx.

Mrs Rainwater, 91, Eden Rites
Eden—Funeral services for Mrs. Adora E. Rainwater will be held at 10am today in Day-Loveless Funeral Chapel, with burial in Millersview (Concho Co.) Cemetery.

Mrs Rainwater died at 4am Wednesday in Concho County Hospital here after a four-month illness. Born 28 Sep 1870 in Argyle Co., Tex, she was married to George Rainwater 26 Sep 1889 in Denton Co, Tx. She had been a Concho Co. resident, since Mr. Rainwater died 24 Nov 1935.

Survivors include six sons; John Rainwater of Millersview; Jim Rainwater, of Eden; Bert Rainwater of Fort Stockton; Frank Rainwater of West Columbia and Jack Rainwater of Richmond; 41 grand-children; 40 great-grand-children and two great-great-grand-children. Another son, Joe Rainwater, died in 1953.

Funeral Services Will Be Held Tomorrow Afternoon at Colonial Chapel

Jesse Mercer Rainwater, a former official of the Coca Cola Bottling Co. in Ga, died this morning at 5:04 am o'clock at his residence - 321 East 15th Street, after a lengthy illness.

A son of the late Joseph H. and Letitia (Williams) Rainwater, he was born in Greene Co.,Ga 15 Sep 1880. He was educated in the Greene Co. schools and went to Atlanta as a young man to become connected with the Coca Cola Bottling Co.

Later Mr. Rainwater was sent by the late J. B. Whitehead to Birmingham, and later to Charleston, SC to open plants for the Co. In 1902, Mr. Rainwater and the late John E. Reed purchased the rights to bottle Coca Cola in the Augusta, Ga territory. Messrs Rainwater and Reed were owners of the Augusta plant for 16 years with the exception of the two years when his cousin, Charles V. Rainwater, was associated with him.

Mr. Rainwater, due to ill health, retired from business several years ago. He remained in Augusta until 1940, when he established residence in Anniston. He had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Augusta since 1902.

On 18 Oct 1905, Mr. Rainwater married the former Miss Julia Matthews Jones of Augusta. Five children were born to that union as follows; Julian M. Rainwater of Philadelphia; Harry V. Rainwater and Ralph L. Rainwater of Anniston; Miss Virginia Rainwater of Anniston; and Frank P. Rainwater, who is teaching at the Vanderbilt University at Nashville, Tenn.

Mr. Rainwater also is survived by one grand-child, Julia Nan Rainwater; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. H. V. Rainwater; one brother, I. V. Rainwater of Birmingham; one sister, Mrs N. H. McGiboney of Greensboro, Ga; one nephew, I. V. Rainwater, Jr. of Washington, D. C.; and a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. R. L. House of Anniston.

Private funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Waights G. Henry, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. The family has requested that floral designs be omitted. Pallbearers will be Ernest Stewart, M. M. Birmingham, John W. Buttram, Drayton Bernhard, J. W. Moore and Maynard A. Craig.

Age 83, died 27 Mar 1973 in Richards Hospital, Rockdale. Services held Wednesday at Phillips and Luckey Chapel, Rockdale. Burial in the IOOF cemetery. She was born 26 Dec 1889 in Somerset, Ky to the late Milford B.Rainwater and Parmelia Ellen (Garner) Rainwater, and spent most of her life in Rockdale. Survivors - A sister, Mrs. Jane Allen of Rockdale; several neices and nephews.

Mrs. Elinor Moore Rainwater of San Marcos, formerly of Taylor and Thorndale area.
She was aged 86. She died 22 Sep 1986 at Hillside Manor in San Marcos. Services were held 25 Sep 1986 in Condra Memorial Chapel in Taylor, with burial in Thorndale City Cemetery. She was born 14 May 1890 and was the widow of Robert H. Rainwater. Survivors - 5 Daughters - Mrs. Dorothy E. Lane and Mrs. Harriet McDavid, both of San Marcos; Mrs. Marilyn Houde of New Braunsfels; Mrs. Martha Walker of Rockport; Mrs. Deane Sutton of Georgetown; son Henry H. Rainwater of Taylor; sister Irma Moore Elliott of Taylor; 15 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Minister Milton Pogue officiated.

Died 5 Apr 1988 at age 74, in the Scott and White Hospital in Temple. Services were held Thursday from the Condra Memorial Chapel, with burial in the Taylor City Cemetery. He was born 9 Feb 1914 and was the superintendant of Water & Wastewater for the city of Taylor for 38 years. He was a former member and officer of the Taylor Lions Club and the Capital Area Waterworks Association. He received a 25 year attendance certificate at the wastewater short schools at Texas A&M. Survivors - Alice Marie (Walker) Rainwater of Taylor; 3 daughters, Lou Ann Kunze, Linda Beth and husband, Marvin Bachmayer; and Janice Marie Lynch, all of Taylor; 5 sisters - Harriet McDavid; Dorothy Lane of San Marcos, Marilyn and husband, Harvey Hood of New Braunsfels; Martha Nell and husband R. J. Walker of Rockport; Lucy Deane and husband, Jack Sutton of Georgetown; 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Ministers Bob Patterson and Milton Pogue officiated. Pallbearers were nephews - Phillip Walker, Mark Walker, Randy Sutton, Mike Schneider, Jack Gold and Dan Mayfield.

An old time and highly esteemed former citizen of Sulphur Springs died at his home in Mexia on Monday night. He lived here for a number of years and was in the photographer's business. His remains were brought here and services were held at the Methodist church, Rev. J. B. Gober officiating.

Funeral services for William Cody Rainwater, 69, of Spring, TX, were held Monday, 22 May at 2 pm in Metcalf Chapel of The Pines, with Mr.Bob Johnson officiating. Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery with Metcalf Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.

Rainwater was born in Cain's Store, KY on 15 Oct 1902 and died in Conroe on 19 May 1972. He was a member of the Church of Christ and had lived in this county since 1945.

He is survived by his son Clyde Rainwater of Spring.

Pallbearers were Fred Arthur, Pete Gillen, Nick Nicholson, Alfred Robinson, Maurice Champion, Jesse Yates and Ralph Dollar.

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Webb, 80, resident of Dallas since 1886, died Thursday evening at her home, 3818 Hall Street. She was a native of Milton County, Georgia, having been born there on June 24, 1849.

Surviving are one daughter, Miss Ethel Webb of Dallas, and three sons, C. H. Webb of San Antonio, O. B. Webb of New Orleans, La., and J. H. Webb of Dallas. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday from the residence. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Funeral services for W. F. Rainwater, 55 years old, who died at his home near Boice, in Beat Three, after a long illness, were held Thursday at the New Hope Methodist Church, the Rev. J. W. Loudenslager of the Waynesboro Methodist Circuit officiating. Interment took place in the New Hope Cemetery.

Mr Rainwater, a native of Wayne Co., was the son of the late John and Mrs. Elizabeth (Saxon) Rainwater. He was active in civic affairs and co-operated in development of the agricultural and educational interests of the county. For a number of years he served as a member of the Board of Trustees of Advanced Consolidated School. He was a member of the New Hope Methodist Church.

Survivors include his widow - Mrs Purro Nett Graham Rainwater of Wayne Co., and the following children; Clyde of Florence, SC; Homer of Stillwater, Okla; (Edward) Harriman of Maricaibo, Venezuela; Mrs Frank Corriere of Laurel, Miss; Mrs F. L. (Inez) Robinson of Mobile, Ala; Orman (McClellan) of Honolulu, Hawaii; George, Mattie and Grace of Wayne Co.; also one brother-Luther H. of Wayne Co., and two sisters, Mrs Mollie Gatlin and Mrs Phronia (Saphronia) Taylor of Laurel, Miss.

RAINWATER, Edward H(arriman) of Houston, died 10 Nov 1972 at the age of 63 at the Spohn Hospital in Corpus Christie (Nueces) Tex, after a short illness. He was a consultant Geologist for the Tenneco Oil Co., and a member of American Association of Petroleum Geologists; Geological Society of America; Gulf Coast Association of Geological Societies; Society of Economics Paleontologists & Mineralogist and Houston Geological Society.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Morse Rainwater of Houston; two sons, Charles F(oster) Rainwater and Norman M(orse) Rainwater both of Houston; four brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held in Waynesboro, Miss., Monday 13 Nov 1972 at 1:30 pm.

Elmer Lawrence Rainwater, 90 of Delaplaine died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould. He was born June 28, 1907, at Denton.

He was a former farmer and timber worker and in 1965, retired as a section hand from Missouri Pacific Railroad. He was of Church of Christ faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Amzier and Clara Viola Hamilton Rainwater; two sons, Larry Allen Rainwater Sr., and Keith Lee Rainwater Sr.; three sisters, Elsie Rainwater, Bertha Felkins and Bessie Butler; and four brothers, Jesse Rainwater, Clarence Rainwater, Earl Rainwater and Dewitt Conder.

Survivors include his wife, Imogene Stevens Rainwater of Delaplaine, five daughters, Charlene Johnson of Bethalto, Ill., Linda Stark of Fenton, Mo., Karen Rainwater of Delaplaine, Shirley Dickerson of Bradford and Dianne Neill of Arkansas; three sones, Kenneth Rainwater of O'Kean, and Reggie Rainwater and Kevin Rainwater, both of Delaplaine; a sister, Jewell Tucker of Doniphan, Mo., 23 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and many other relatives. The funeral will be at 10:30 am on Saturday at Bryan Funeral Home in Hoxie with Robert Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Greene County Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Paragould. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jeffery Stark, Larry Allen Rainwater, Jr.; Adam Neill, Jason Rainwater, John Rainwater and Keith Rainwater, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Neill, Kenneth Stephen Rainwater, Joshua Rainwater and Zachary Lawrence.

Died near Lyons' station, Burleson county, May 24, 1886, Professor George M. Rainwater

Professor Rainwater was a native of Georgia, and was educated at Mercer University. For the past three years he had been teaching at Oak Point, Milam county, which place he left but one week prior to his death. As a teacher, he was well known, having spent over twenty-five years of his life in the work. He was an earnest, progressive worker in the school room, a strong and genial friend, a good citizen.
